ANNIEVILLE ROCK WALL
Modifications 2007 – Project Notification

Project Description:
Fraser River Port Authority (FRPA) has received approval to remove 200’ of rock from the Annieville Rock Wall adjacent to Timberland Basin in the South Arm of the Fraser River.  This project will create a safe maneuvering area for larger deep-sea vessels now calling at Fraser Surrey Docks (FSD).

Rock will be removed from the downriver end of the wall to a depth similar to that of the surrounding area.  In addition, the navigation light (LL 366,5) marking the downriver end of the wall will be relocated accordingly.

Timeline and Schedule:
The work, contracted to Fraser River Pile & Dredge Ltd. (FRPD), is scheduled to start Thursday February 01, 2007 and is expected to take up to four (4) weeks to complete.  The construction will take place from 07:00 to 17:30 Monday through Saturday as well as some low tides.

What to Expect:
During this time, mariners can expect to see additional traffic in the FSD area as a result of vessels associated with this project.  These vessels include the derrick “G.E. V”, flat scows and assist tug.  Also, the navigation light marking the downriver end of the wall will be temporarily out of service.

Radio Communications:
Initial radio communications will be on VHF channel 74.  A standby tug will be on-site during construction hours.

Equipment Storage:
During non-construction hours, all equipment will be stored in Timberland Basin alongside the rock wall.

Contact Information:
The project is coordinated by FRPA with guidance by Canadian Coast Guard and Transport Canada.  For additional information, please contact Dave Hart, Fraser River Port Authority (604) 524-6655.
