NOTICE: Dredging In Effect Near Skytrain Bridge

version français

January 30, 2007:

Fraser River Port Authority would like to give notice that dredging of the Fraser River will be occurring at a location downriver from the Skytrain Bridge on the Surrey side.  This is a new site for dredging operations, as a transfer pit has been created to accommodate construction of the South Fraser Perimeter Road.

Timeline and Schedule:
The Columbia Dredge is currently operating 24 hours at day, Monday through Saturday for approximately four weeks, until the end of February.  This is the last work for the season, as operations will have to cease for the downstream migration of salmon and the movement of eulachon.

What to Expect:
Although the operation is noisy, the vessel meets the requirements set by Transport Canada for noise and emissions as well as Surrey’s municipal bylaws.
