| Port Authority calling on all Shipbuilders at FraserFest 2007 |

July 13, 2007: FraserFest would not be complete without the ever-popular boat building activity presented by the Fraser River Port Authority. This free event takes place at the Port Authority's "shipyard", where kids of all ages are invited to build their very own ship of the Fraser.
"Out of all the family entertainment featured at FraserFest, boat building is my favorite," said Megan Park, Public Affairs Coordinator for the Fraser River Port Authority. "It's great fun for the whole family, and you can't beat the price - free!"
Boat building workshops have been a festival highlight for over ten years. Participants will receive a free boat kit containing a rough wooden hull, a wheelhouse, mast, and other parts and tools for assembly. Volunteers from the Vancouver Maritime Museum will be on hand to offer assistance. The workshops will be offered from 11 am to 3 pm (or until quantities last) on Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22.
Aspiring shipbuilders can find inspiration at the adjacent marine model display and demonstration. Due to the great response from last year's trial run, the Burnaby Association of Marine Modellers will be back to showcase their scale, working models of various ships of the river. The demonstration occurs on Saturday only, July 21 from 10 am to 4 pm.
