New Director takes seat on Fraser River Port Board

September 18, 2001: The Fraser River Port Authority is pleased to announce that Mr. Kim Husband, a retired BC Provincial Court judge, was appointed to the Board of Directors for a term of three years. The appointment was announced in an Order in Council dated August 28, 2001. It was made on the recommendation of the Minister of Transport, David Collenette, and in consultation with the user groups.

Mr. Husband sat on the bench from 1978 to July 2001. Prior to his appointment to the Provincial Court Bench, he practiced law in New Westminster. Mr. Husband is the current chair of the New Westminster Rotary Club’s Scholarship Committee and is Secretary Treasurer (elect) of the Canadian Bar Association’s BC Branch. He is also the past president of the New Westminster Bar Association.

The Fraser River Port Authority is responsible for facilitating and supporting trade and port-related activities on the main arm of the Fraser River. Each year, more than $9 billion worth of goods are shipped through Fraser River Port. This activity generates more than 6,000 local jobs.
