Captain Allen Domaas appointed President and CEO of Fraser River Port Authority

February 14, 2002: Mr. Michael Jones, Chair of the Fraser River Port Authority, is pleased to announce the appointment of Captain Allen Domaas to the position of President and CEO. A Professional Port Manager™, Captain Domaas has served as Acting President and CEO of the Port Authority since January 2001.

“Captain Domaas is taking the helm of this organization at a very exciting time in Fraser River Port’s development,” said Mr. Jones. “The Board has confidence in his experience and vision of the Port’s future and is looking forward to working with him as we begin implementation of our new strategic plan.”

Captain Domaas joined the patrol division of the Port Authority’s predecessor, the Fraser River Harbour Commission, in 1973. He was appointed Property Supervisor in 1979, Assistant Harbour Master in 1987, and Director of Operations in 1990. When the Commission was recreated as a Port Authority in 1999, he was named Vice President, Operations.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to lead staff and management through the next stage of our growth, as we build on the Port’s strengths and work towards our goals of continued and sustainable growth,” said Captain Domaas.

The Fraser River Port Authority administers Fraser River Port, and has jurisdiction over the main arm of the lower Fraser River, west of Kanaka Creek and Pitt Lake. More than 25 million tonnes of cargo move through Fraser River Port terminals each year, creating more than 6,000 local jobs.
