Container Truckers can enter Fraser Surrey Docks with same licenses issued by Vancouver Port Authority

August 24, 2005: Fraser River Port Authority is reminding all container truckers that they can use the same Container Truckers License issued by the Vancouver Port Authority to access Fraser Surrey Docks.

The Fraser River Port Authority, in compliance with Orders-in-Council 2005-1356, and 2005-1365 concerning the Settlement of the Dispute Causing the Extraordinary Disruption of the national Transportation System in Relation to Container Movements into and out of Certain Ports in British Columbia, established a licensing system to give trucks access to Fraser River Port for the delivery, pickup, or movement of containers into and out of the port.

The Fraser River Port Authority requires any truck accessing the Fraser Surrey Docks container terminal to have a Container Truckers License. The Fraser River Port Authority will prohibit access to any truck or other road transportation equipment that does not meet the aforementioned requirements. This became effective as of Thursday, August 4, 2005.

Container Truckers Licenses are being granted to companies who agree to compensate drivers according to the rate schedule established under the July 29, 2005 Memorandum of Agreement, prepared by government-appointed mediator Vince Ready.

Companies wishing to apply for a Container Truckers License must visit http://www.portvancouver.com/trade_shipping/trucking/trucking.html .
