| Fraser Surrey Docks welcomes M.V. Port Pegasus’ arrival on maiden voyage |

June 15, 2004 – A second new bulk
carrier in a week has made Fraser River Port its first port of call to pick up
cargo while on its maiden voyage from Hong Kong. M.V. Port Pegasus – a
sister ship to M.V. Timaru Star, which called last week –was officially
welcomed to Fraser Surrey Docks during a ceremony held aboard the ship on
Monday, June 14, 2004.
Fraser Surrey Docks’ Mike McLeod, and Fraser River Port Authority President and CEO, Captain Allen Domaas, presented plaques to
the vessel’s master, Captain Zuo Xue Ji. M.V. Pegasus was launched on May 20, 2004; she is an NNK-class
vessel measuring 177 meters in length, with a Gross Registered Tonnage of
roughly 20,000 metric tonnes and a crew complement of 22. After loading its cargo at Fraser Surrey
Docks, M.V. Pegasus will stop in the United States before returning to
Japan. Fraser Surrey Docks, located at the Fraser River Port, is a general cargo terminal on the Fraser River.
Fraser River Port is Canada’s second-largest port, located in the main arm of
the Fraser River. The Port directly employs over 12,400 people. Total Gross
Domestic Product exceeds $2.3 billion.
