Directors reappointed to Fraser River Port Board

May 8, 2002: The Fraser River Port Authority is pleased to announce that Mr. Mike Jones and Mrs. Juliana Yung were reappointed to the Board of Directors for another term of three years. The appointments were announced in an Order in Council dated April 16, 2002, on the recommendation of the Minister of Transport, Mr. David Collenette, and in consultation with user groups.

Mr. Jones, a retired professional engineer, was a partner and Executive Vice President of Aplin & Martin Consultants Ltd., as well as the City of Surrey’s Chief Engineer and City Manager. He is also a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of British Columbia. He has been part of the Board since 1994.

Mrs. Yung has extensive experience in banking and financial administration, as Senior Manager at the Gulf & Fraser Fisherman’s Credit Union, where she has been for over 20 years, and previously with the Bank of Montreal. Mrs. Yung is also heavily involved in the community, holding a position in the Board of Governors at Kwantlen College and participating in a number of charities. She was first appointed to the Board in 1999.

The Fraser River Port Authority is responsible for facilitating and supporting trade and port-related activities on the main arm of the Fraser River. Over 22 million tones of cargo are shipped through Fraser River Port annually, creating over 10,000 local jobs. The nine municipalities that border the port are Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Richmond, and Surrey.
