May 8, 2002: At a regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Fraser River Port Authority held today, Mr. Mike Jones was reelected Chair and Mr. Kim Husband was elected Vice Chair.
Mr. Jones, a retired professional engineer, was a partner and Executive Vice President of Aplin & Martin Consultants Ltd., as well as the City of Surreys Chief Engineer and City Manager. He is also a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of British Columbia. He has been part of the Board since 1994.
Mr. Husband, a retired BC Provincial Court judge, has been with the Board since 2001. He sat on the Bench from 1978 to 2001, during which time he specialized in mediation. Mr. Husband was an active member of the City of New Westminsters Advisory Planning Board and the Secretary Treasurer (elect) of the BC Branch Canadian Bar Association.
The Fraser River Port Authority is responsible for facilitating and supporting trade and port-related activities on the main arm of the Fraser River. Over 22 million tones of cargo are shipped through Fraser River Port annually, creating over 10,000 local jobs. The municipalities that border the port are Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Richmond, and Surrey.
